Hmmm...so I basically haven't updated at all since I've been here. So-this will be very abridged. Things have been going awesomely. I'm pretty confident at being a waitress (although I do still have my bad days) I have some fun coworkers and I haven't spilled any food yet (drinks is another story...) so that is good! Staff has left and I'm in charge of handling everyone's money which is somewhat of a stressful task-hopefully I do everything alright!

Hanging out with everyone has been one of the highlights. There are so many wonderful people here and I feel so encouraged by seeing all of them pursuing the Lord. Here's some of the stuff we've done... played Par 3 golf (this is a riot!), eaten out, gone to the movies, had cookouts and hayrides, enjoyed the great outdoors (the mountains are beautiful here!), going outlet shopping, tubing down a river, etc. etc. It's been a blast!

Spiritually it's been amazing. We've been doing internet cafes every week and really get a chance to hang out and talk to TONS of international students who are working here for the summer. We also have been doing a lot of sharing on the strip and have gotten opportunities to hand out food baskets and serve the community in other ways. A couple of us got to speak to the church high school sunday class which was cool as well. I've been learning a ton about prayer and my own personal walk with the Lord and just how to be more effective at all different types of ministry in general. It's been great!

My family came in last week and it was good to spend time with them and show them some of my surroundings. I'm looking forward to seeing my extended family in a few weeks in Florida and being home for a couple weeks. However-I think I'll be ready for Clemson when the time comes! Every time I drive by UT I'm reminded of how much I love the college atmosphere...*sigh*...Oh Clemson...

Anyways-enough blabbing for now. I'm off to our internet cafe!

I made it to Gatlinburg! Woohoo! I'm here with 30 other cool kids. The drive down was gorgeous and I remembered why I love the mountains! (has anyone been to Cherokee, NC? interesting place...) I was super nervous showing up and got that "ah-wow I don't know anyone" feeling but the past couple of days we have all spent a lot of time just chilling and getting to know each other which has been great. There are a TON of people from NC State and USC but everyone is pretty fun. Oh-and one of the staff girls is a Clemson grad (Go Tigers!)

First full day on project I got a job working at....

*DRUMROLL PLEASE*

No Way Jose's!!! (It's a Mexican Cantina) I'm going to be a waitress! Craziness huh? I've already starting working a few days and it's hard but I have some cool co-workers, a boss who loves Crusade kids (and invited us to church with him), and I'm getting to work with 4 other people from project. I work 10:30-4 4 days a week so I won't be super busy all the time...but that's just fine with me! It's about a 15 min walk from where I'm staying. I wear a really cool bright shirt they gave us (I have one in turquoise and red) as well as khacki capris, tennis shoes, and a lil apron...let me tell ya-I'm lookin adorable! lol... We got to try the food the other day though and it's pretty good. They have some amazing flour tortilla chips which might be the best ones I've ever had (dont worry though...nothing has topped my Texas Mexican yet!) I'm still following around my trainer (Shelley) and learning all about how to be an exquisite waitress. I don't think I'll quite get there but it will be fun trying...

Last night we all went to a Smokies baseball team (Double A team I think?!) and it was soo fun. Me along with 8 other project kids got to go sing "Take me Out to the Ball Game" from the press box area during the 7th inning stretch. We also cheered on the Smokies like crazy...even though most of us didn't even know who they were before that evening. They had an amazing fireworks show at the game which I think beats Kingwood's 4th of July celebration (kinda sad...lol) We also made a Krispy Kreme run. Tonight a bunch of project kids went to No Way Jose's for dinner (got to pull the employee discount-woowoo), then to listen to some live bluegrass music, then we came back to our main meeting room and danced! I learned 2 line dances, practiced my shag, and learned just a lil of the foxtrot and cha-cha! Now I have a new goal to learn all kinds of different dances because they are so fun. After that a few of us played BS by the pool and then called it a night.

The basic schedule is to work T-Sat, have growth group (bible study) dinner/meeting on Mon night, project dinners T-Th, Weekly meeting type deal on Tues, Wed is reflection (just spending an extended amount of time with the Lord on ur own), Thurs is training (learning how to share ur faith, disciple peeps, lead groups, etc), Fri/Sat are free nights, Sun is church/outreach/prayer, and Mon is  a free day. We stay pretty busy but it's fun.

My growth group leader is from Marshall and she's really great. She's married to a guy who went to UTenn and was discipled by John Strange-pretty cool eh? The girls in my growth group (aka my room mates) are Gabi and Hannah. Gabi is from Slovakia and is involved in the Crusade movement there-she has pics of random Clemson kids in Slovakia who have done that project in the past. Hannah is from Purdue and is really great as well. Our condos we stay in are actually pretty nice-I had myself prepared for much worse.

I've been reading and spending time with the Lord a lot. It's great to be able to be in a community so focused on glorifying God. There have already been some cool stories of project kids getting into spiritual conversations with people and such, which is exciting. Let me know if you want me to keep you updated on what I'm doing. Hope all of your summers are going marvelously-please keep me updated!

There's not too much to update...I've been visiting with friends, hanging with the fam, looking at GRE stuff, and doing some shopping. I watched the final Bachelor a couple nights ago without my girls but it did make me feel better to receive a phone call from Jackie D and Caroline who were having their own mini party. Last night was cookie night at the Smith house and Casey and Becca came and we just chatted for a few hours about all our old memories... it was good times. Sad part is lil Becca leaves for Chicago Friday. She wasn't even home a week! Ooh-I got a haircut yesterday and it's pretty short. I'll have to wait and play with it today to see if I really like it. Anyways-I g2g get ready so I can go to Quizno's with Case and drop sumthin off for my dad before my doctor's appt... fun fun day...

Well...I survived the semester! Summer is here and I must say the year seems to have flown by. I miss all my Clemson kids but I think it'll be good to be home and just chill for a while. I plan on relaxing, maybe looking over some GRE junk, getting sleep, helping my mom at school, playing cards with the g-ma, eating my fair share of Mexican food (oh how i've missed it!), and spending time with friends and family here in Kingwood. Casey and I have planned a 2-day excursion to San Antonio for the classic attractions (riverwalk and Alamo) as well as doing some shopping (Ann Taylor factory store here I come-woowoo) and enjoying their Mexican food. I also have to get started on project thank-yous and make sure I'm ready to go with that. I'm super excited for it! Anywho-I'm now off to go run errands with my dad-ttyl!

Guess I haven't been so good at updating... really I shouldn't be updating now-I should be studying... but I got out of Geology early and I feel more like wasting time right now. Lately things have been going good...I'm staying busy that's for sure. The campaign is finally over. Tuesday they announced a run-off and we were all running around like crazy trying to get people to vote! The whole thing was kinda crazy... but I must say I really enjoyed working the tables... it's fun to just stand on the bridge for an hour or so and chat with people. Anyways-tonight results will be announced!!! Let's hope all goes well... Only one more full week before Spring Break. I'm excited! Assuming all goes well I'll get to see my extended family, spend a great week in Daytona with my Cru kids, and then spend Easter with Stephen's fam. It'll be my first Easter not being at home which is kinda sad...but what were they thinking making Spring Break fall over Easter?!?! Anywho-this weekend I'm goin to the Cru Chick-fil-a fundraiser and then doing something else Friday night(not sure what yet). Saturday I'll be studying all day but that night is game night at the Strange's! It's been forever since we've had one so I'm majorly looking forward to it! woowoo! Well... class is about to start and I think I might just study for a few before I leave... have a splendid day everyone!
